The Government Polytechnic, Rajkot is to offer three year Diploma level programme in Engineering and technology which are approved by AICTE in regular mode. The candidates are selected according to the policy norms formed by the State Govt.  using curriculum and evaluation system developed by Technical Examination Board. The curriculum is designed according to guideline provided by the AICTE.  The institute is administrated by Directorate of technical Education, Gujarat State and financially funded by the State Govt. so the institute has to follow the rules & regulation laid down by the Govt.

The Courses offered by the Polytechnic are Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, I.T., E.C. ,Metallurgy and Chemical Engineering on regular basis.At the same time it also facilitates Distance learning mode in Civil,Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

The institute has well equiped Learning Resources Development Center, Which provides latest teaching learning aids like OHP, Multi-media, and a resourcesful library.The library has a total of 21651 books, 5000 IS standard code and 500 Reference books including MaGrow Hill Encyclopedia of science and technology
